A Reader's Hawaiian Experience

I received the following narrative a few years ago:

I have debated some time on whether to submit this experience and I finally decided what the heck... In August of 2012 my wife and I took a long awaited trip to the big island, Hawaii. The trip there was un-eventful. Left from Oklahoma City, stop in DFW, then LAX, and finally we arrived at Kona International Airport. We picked up our luggage, grabbed a rental and headed to the resort. Upon arrival we found the resort to be absolutely lovely, it was just as we pictured it. Check in went smoothly and we were walked up a small path to our condo. Two beds, two baths, a living room, a huge lanai, full kitchen and a two-person garden tub.

After unpacking I noted it was around 2pm. We were exhausted (as our flight left OKC the previous night). We decided to take a nap before starting our adventuring. My wife laid down in bed and I adjusted the AC. I walked into the bedroom from the hallway thermostat. Just as I stepped into the room I heard a noise from the living area, it sounded like somebody dropped a stack of magazines. I grudgingly walked into the living area to pick up a mess. I couldn't find anything askew. There were a stack of magazines on the small coffee table, but they were on the table not the floor. I looked for a minute then just shrugged it off. I laid down in bed.

I was almost asleep when I heard the bedroom door close. I figured my wife needed a drink, I turned over to see her lying in bed next to me. I immediately went into attack mode. It was 2:15pm I jumped stealth-fully out of bed and grabbed my pocket knife from the dresser. I was trained to use a knife a time ago, so I was confident I could stop an attacker unless they had a gun. I approached the door. It opened silently. I peered out ready to strike. Nothing. I systematically searched the condo. Nothing. I am a reasonable fellow, my is wife very reasonable herself. We decided the pressure from the AC switching on had closed the door.

I laid down again. Before my eyes the door began to close. It silently and gently shut until the mechanism was in contact with the door jam. I laughed to myself, thinking of how I over-reacted. The door violently slammed itself shut. I shot out of bed and promptly opened the door. I stood and watched it for 5 minutes, it didn't budge. I walked back to bed and sat down. The door rapidly closed slamming itself shut! I remember getting chills, my wife leaned in behind me and peered at the door. I stood and blurted out loud "IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST BE GONE FROM HERE! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME GET OUT!" I immediately felt the room begin to warm. Things were normal once again. It was 2:23pm. My wife and I prayed for protection and finally slept peacefully.

We are both people of great faith, we knew whatever it was had been forced out. I believe that our faith was keeping it at bay. We were there 14 days. Nothing further occurred until the last day of the trip. It was around 10pm I was packing and watching a series called "Haunted Highway." My wife was already asleep. I finished up packing and laid down. The television was kept concealed inside a large built-in wardrobe. The door in front of the television would open and lay flat against the wall. There was even a small latch that kept it in place. It had not moved the entire time we had been there. I watched it slowly close and shut and latch. I calmly got up and opened the door so I could finish my program. I stood back and the door began to rapidly close! I jumped forward caught the door and said "GET OUT." I pushed the door open latched it in place and laid down. I prayed again and went to sleep.

I had very violent and frightening dreams all night. I woke exhausted and found the wardrobe was still open as I left it. We loaded our car and left that place behind. I was glad to be on the plane homeward bound. I still break out in wild goose bumps and my hair stands on end each time I tell and relive this experience. My wife and I believe in the supernatural, but this was a first for us. I absolutely believe that which was in our condo was demonic in nature. It's whole purpose was to rock our faith, all it succeeded in doing was making it stronger. On a side note I have been to Oahu many times BECAUSE my sister used to live there. I never experienced anything like this there. When I relived the experience for my sister she just sat there silently. She looked at her husband and they both said that they had similar experiences when they first moved to Oahu. They hadn't told anybody because they were afraid of ridicule. Native Hawaiians have long believed in spirits that would attack 'howlies' that were visiting the islands. Doug

NOTE: 'Howlies' is a corruption of the word Haole, Hawaiian slang for foreigner. Usually applied only to Caucasian people. Not necessarily derogatory, depends on context. I have heard similar stories from people who have travelled to Hawaii. In fact, an NFL player who was in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl several years ago related to me encounters that he and another player had with less-than-friendly spirits in their hotel suites. To make a long story short, they didn't get much sleep during their stay and vowed to never return to Hawaii. Maybe the vengeful native entities are get a little 'payback' for past atrocities...Lon

Behind The Door

I received the following email from an anonymous witness who feels strongly that she had a close encounter with an alien being:

Hello - I submitted a report to MUFON several years ago but never heard back from the group. This incident continues to haunt me. I don't have an actual copy of the report but I'll give you as many details as possible from the notes. I know what I saw is true.

In 1972 I was living in a four family flat in Highland Park, MI on Glendale. I was about 8 years old. A new family had just moved in from Texas and I became friends with their girl who was my age. I slept over at her place one night. In the early a.m. I woke to use the bathroom and got out of bed. The bathroom was located on the right side of the room I was sleeping in, at the end of the hall. The hall was shaped like an 'L'. Not long after I got up I heard a noise that sounded like a door moving. I walked to the long side of the hall to see who was awake.

The light shining from the bathroom allowed me to see what I thought was a small child holding onto a knob and peering out from behind the door. I could see his silhouette and I thought he must be hungry because he looked so skinny. I took a step closer blinking my eyes as to clear up my sleepy vision. As my vision became more clear I turned my head to the left and it mimicked me. That's when I saw the eye - it was large and black - so I turned my head to the right and it mimmicked me again. It had tiny slits for a nose and a dimple for a mouth as it appeared from behind the door. Then I noticed the 3 long fingers holding the door knob. It had no clothes and I could only see the one shoulder. The skin appeared to be grey a dark grey. I took a deep breath and urinated on the wax floor and then fainted. I woke the next morning and remembered that I had urinated on the floor but there was no evidence. I didn't know why I would do that my underwear were bright white, almost glowing. I was back in the bed and there was no urine in the bed. I felt no reason to tell my mom or my friend that I urinated in the hall - there was no proof the wax floor was not damaged and my underwear were better than new.

Well fast forward to 1986 - 14 years later. Time Life Magazine advertised a giveaway book 'Aliens - are they really out there' and flashed a picture of the alien. Suddenly, I flashed back - I was 8 years old again standing in the hall reliving everything over again. They are here they have been here for years.

For two weeks after that flash back I could not walk. A relative told me I believe there is a chip in my leg and that they may have nicked a nerve inserting it. There was also a deep indentation on my leg for quite a long time. I gained so much weight as well. This happened to me and I decided when I wrote MUFON that I will continue to go on acting as if it was a dream.

There is a bit more to the story and it concerns the family from Texas I was visiting that night. After several years I saw them again and I told them my story. They confirmed it to be true because one of their family later committed suicide as a result of watching the alien move about the residence. This was my friend's younger brother who had not been born before we moved away. The family did not believe his encounters so he eventually killed himself. I wish I could have been there because I saw the alien and I would have believed him.

'Dark Entity' Encounters

I've listed a few 'dark being' encounters from readers and colleagues:

I have never tried to contact someone before about this, but here it goes. It's not a traditional "alien" story, but I am interested in seeing if anyone else has seen what I did. When I was 7 or 8 years old, I lived on Oahu in Hawaii, in the Salt Lake City area, which is located next to the base on that island.

We lived in a very populated area in a 12 level apartment building. It was a two bedroom - my parents room was on the other side of the apartment. One night I had a bad dream and got up in the middle of the night to sleep in my parent's bed.

Only my dad was there - I don't remember where my mother was. At some point in the earlier morning hours I had to go to the bathroom. I wasn't scared - I was just sleepy. The bathroom was adjoined to the bedroom. As I walked out of the bathroom toward the bed, something in the corner of my eye caught my attention and I looked up and saw a figure in a dark cloak walking past the doorway.

It saw me at the same time. We both were startled, and just stared at each other for a moment. I was scared out of my mind. I couldn't move or scream. One thing that was impressed on me was how little it was. It was my height.

It was wearing a dark cloak that covered its head and was clasped at the neck. Inside the cloak was pitch-black (so much that it seemed unnatural), and two large oval slanted (typical) RED glowing eyes was all I could see.

We stared at each other for a moment, then it jumped out of view. I had no idea what I saw nor what to do - I was completely freaked out and my dad was lying there asleep. So I did what most children do when they are scared - I laid down on the bed, and pulled the covers over my head.

It seemed like I might be imagining it as it happened, but I felt someone pushing down on the bed in a circle around me, and then last pushing on my pillow. I remembered everything very clearly, but didn't tell anyone for a very long time.

It never crossed my mind that it was an alien until much later. I thought it was some kind of demon. There are a lot of stories about evil little people in Hawaii, and I figured that was what I saw. But I met a lady who heard my story and told me about the greys, and the fact that I surprised and shocked it is what I can't get over. She said that it was probably expecting me to still be in my bed and that it was there for my father.

Location: Saranac, Michigan
Date: November 27, 2007
Time: Late evening

The witness and her husband were sitting in their living room watching TV when they heard a gunshot next door and then a second. Her husband got dressed and headed over to his neighbor Bob’s house to see if was the bear that they had been seeing lately.

When he got there the neighbor was “freaked out” and explained what he saw. Bob’s wife Grace had taken their two dogs out one last time before bed and their oldest dog ran toward the woods like always, but stopped dead in his tracks and cowered. Grace yelled for Bob and he ran outside with his 30-30 rifle, thinking it was the bear again. He walked up to his dog and spotted movement from the corner of his eye.

He looked up and saw a dark figure walk across his path into the woods. It was standing upright like a human and was about 6’7”, just outside the right of light from his flood light, and Bob though it was a hunter that had been in the area lately. So he yelled at it, saying something like “Hey, who are you?” The figure then walked back across the path on all fours like an animal...and it had red eyes.

Bob was transfixed with the eyes; they glowed like the end of a cigarette. He raised his gun and put the sights of the scope on its chest, dead center mass, and noticed it had no fur. He shot once and hit it square in the chest. It didn’t even flinch. He then re-racked the gun, but it misfired. The gun had never done that before, so he racked out the bullet and racked in a new one. It misfired yet again. He looked at the bullet and it didn’t even have a dent from the firing pin. He re-loaded the bullet and looked up. The figure was standing upright again, but farther back in the woods. He aimed and fired and hit it again in the chest. It didn’t flinch again. It just walked off like nothing happened. Bob fired one last time, but missed. They found no tracks or any blood anywhere where Bob had seen the figure.

Puerto de Alisas, Spain - April 4, 1991 - late night

Jose Saiz was traveling alone on an isolated road and as he was rounding a curve he saw what he thought at first to be a sheet floating in the air on the side of the road. It now floated on the center of the road and the witness slowed down and turned on the high beams. Suddenly he was stunned to realize that it was not a "sheet" but a man-like figure. It was moving towards the witness, moving its arms very slowly as if it were swimming. Little by little it moved off to the right and feet first, descended to the ground.

The now terrified witness could see that it was a tall man wearing something resembling a dark flowing tunic. It moved in strange leaps and bounds as the witness noticed that it had a very pale face with a pointed chin. As the witness drove by the figure he looked more closely and was able to see more details. It had a long bony pale face, somewhat resembling that of a corpse. Its whole face and body appeared to be illuminated by a dim glow, bluish reddish in color. It had long straight hair almost white in color and was shoulder length. Its hands and feet were long, bony and strong looking. He was apparently barefooted. The humanoid was easily over 2 meters in height and wore something on his forehead resembling a diadem or tiara. The humanoid facial expression was that of extreme resigned sadness and fear. This scared the witness who as he drove by the figure saw it bend down in an almost mechanical fashion. The witness attempted to accelerate the car but it had inexplicably lost power. The vehicle suddenly accelerated and the witness left the bizarre being behind. The witness had the impression that he humanoid remained on the road as if waiting for something or someone.

Nirvana on the N24

Dear Lon, let me start by saying how much I enjoy your Phantoms and Monsters blog and Astral Perceptions Universal website. My experience doesn't involve any UFO's or cryptids, just an intensely personal experience that changed my life.

The year was 1983 or 1984. I was in my early twenty's and was working for a brokerage firm (Shearson/American Express) in downtown Manhattan. The situation was this. I was at the end of an arduous work week. The computers at our office had been crashing all week which would instantly send us back to the 1930's as we had to take all stock orders by hand and transmit them to the exchange floor. Much stress and mayhem involved. It was finally Friday after 6:30 and we got to go home. I had a two hour commute before me by subway, bus and then a two mile walk to get to my house. I didn't relish thinking about it. I was dog tired and it was drizzling.

After a long subway ride from the World Trade Center to Queens I got on the eastbound N24 bus which would take me into Nassau County. It was late and there were few passengers. I sat alone in the back of the bus reading Cry The Beloved Country by Alan Paton. I remember it was a book my mother had recommended to me and since her taste in reading material had always been superior to mine I had gladly taken it up.

The experience began as the bus was turning onto Jamaica Ave. I had just read the last few pages of the book and it had affected me deeply. It's funny, I don't remember any of the specifics of the story. What I do remember are the feelings of sorrow, hope and compassion that welled up in me as I finished. I also remember lifting my head to look out the rain wet window and felt myself connect with the world in a profound way. I know it sounds trite and cliched to say everything became ONE, but that is exactly what happened. All the feelings I was harboring from the book seemed to meld inside me and then in an instant expand, connecting me with the the bus, the road, the lamppost, I could even feel the rain as it fell out of the sky. I looked out the back window and felt myself part of the buildings and I imagined that if I wanted to I could just let myself go and meld with it all. This state brought on a deep feeling of peace and wonder. And yet the oddest part of this was the realization that it was not unique to my experience. I had been here before. My first thoughts upon entering this state had been "I'm back". I knew on an intrinsic level that I had been in this state before although I had no conscience memory of it ever having happened. It was like a blindfold being taken from your eyes and seeing the dawn for the first time. And then it faded. I slowly came back into myself. I was feeling deeply, soulfully quite and I had tears in my eyes.

I've thought often of this experience and it's one of the reasons I've started shamanic journeying. Because of it I have no doubt there is an existence/perception/knowledge that lies outside everyday life. I know that to seek to understand this thing is an important part of why I am here, and I never forget that the gateway to this state for me was hope, sorrow and compassion.

Thanks, Michael N.
